Lapdogs like the Cavapoo are simply ideal for first-time dog owners. But, where can you find a Cavapoo for adoption?
There are a variety of rescue organizations you could make use of. But, it’s not always easy to know who exactly to visit or contact to adopt a Cavapoo.

More importantly, adopting a dog is nothing like buying from a trusted, reputable breeder. And a lack of information on the dog’s ancestry, medical history, or behavior may not sit well with you.
It’s why we’ve created this list for you. The rescue establishments on here have been in the business for years! What’s more, they take the health of their dogs pretty seriously. They go the extra mile to groom, vaccinate, and keep their Cavapoos in great shape for adopters like you!
NorCal Poodle Rescue
Established in 1985, NorCal Poodle Rescue is no novice in the Poodle rescue business. For the past 37 years, they’ve rescued and rehomed hundreds of Poodles and Poodle mixes.
NorCal Poodle Rescue is in Grass Valley, California. And they’re particularly dedicated to bolstering the health of dogs they put up for adoption. It’s why they regularly vaccinate their dogs and provide extra medical care and attention to those with underlying medical conditions.
Do note that a Cavapoo may not always be readily available for adoption. However, if you see one that catches your eye on their website, you should go ahead to fill out an online adoption application. They will thereafter get in touch with you.
You must however be within the Fresno and Oregon Border for NorCal to consider adopting their dogs to you.

Poodle Rescue Of Houston
Like most top rescue organizations, Poodle Rescue of Houston are thoroughly dedicated to the health of their breeds. It’s why they maintain a veterinary clinic with a surgical suite on their grounds. You can find them in Northwest Houston, adjacent to Prestonwood Kennels Pet Resort.
The adoption process is fairly straightforward. If you want to adopt a Cavapoo, all you need to do is to shoot them a mail containing answers to a list of questions provided on their website.
If they feel the Cavapoo is a good match for you, they will contact you for an appointment, and presto!
Nonetheless, to qualify as an adopter, you must be a U.S citizen who is at least 21 years old. You must also possess a valid driver’s license or any photo ID that shows your present address.
Sometimes, Cavapoos may not be listed on their site as readily available for pick up. This is because, at Poodle Rescue of Houston, dogs aren’t put up for adoption until they successfully pass various stages of rehabilitation and veterinary treatments.

Poodle Patch Rescue
Poodle Patch Rescue was founded in 2005 in Texarkana, Texas.
They mainly give out Standard Poodles for adoption. Oftentimes, though, there are available spaces to accommodate all other dog breeds including Poodle mixes like the Cavapoo.
Dogs here are spayed/neutered and vaccinated. They also receive dental cleanings and other necessary medical attention. You won’t be disappointed if you’re looking for a thoroughly healthy Cavapoo. You’re probably also going to love the fact that dogs put up for adoption are already house trained!
Note, however, that Poodle Patch Rescue consists of a couple of volunteers and isn’t a facility. So, dogs live in volunteer foster homes while they wait for people like you to adopt them.

To find out if they have a Cavapo available for adoption, simply reach out to them via mail. A volunteer will contact you to move things further along.
If a Cavapoo is available for adoption, you would have to complete an adoption application form subject to the rescue’s approval.
Remember, though, that Poodle Patch Rescue only adopt within 50 miles of Texarkana, TX. What’s more, you may have to pick up your adopted Cavapoo as they don’t transport or ship animals.

Poodles And Pals

Cavapoos may not always be available for adoption. But, Poodles and Pals have a wide pool from which they rescue dogs. These include dogs abandoned by their owners as well as those slated for death at animal shelters. Your chances of landing a Cavapoo. therefore, are high.

Florida Poodle Rescue
Florida Poodle Rescue has been in the business of rescuing dogs since 1994. Since that time, they’ve found homes for over 10,000 Poodles including Poodle mixes.
Their pool includes dogs that have been abused, abandoned, neglected, or found straying on the street. So, it makes it likely to get a Cavapoo to adopt out of the lot.
Make no mistake about it, though. Dogs found are thoroughly examined medically or otherwise to make them ideal fits for their eventual homes.
While dogs put up for adoption are added to their website, not all dogs will have their details there. Some dogs end up being adopted even before the team gets to add their information to the website.
This means you’ve got to be proactive. Once you’re interested in adopting a Cavapoo, you should quickly fill out an application form on their website. A volunteer will get in touch with you if they get a dog that not only matches your requirements but also suits your home.

Why You Should Adopt A Cavapoo
When you adopt a Cavapoo, you’re getting a dog that’s generally calm and laid-back. Of course, they can be bubbly at times. But, they have so much love to give, you’re never going to tire of them. Add in the fact that they’re a people-pleaser, thriving off of the attention you give them, and you’ve got yourself a bondmate for life!
Again, as a small breed, the Cavapoo generally has few health issues to deal with. If you’re adopting a dog, you definitely want to adopt a breed that’s not susceptible to diseases.
The Cavapoo is also very intelligent, considering they hail from the Poodle. You should, therefore, experience little difficulty in training him.
If it’s going to be your first time owning a dog, then the Cavapoo is an excellent choice. This dog is a small breed, making it a lot easier to manage than an otherwise larger one.
Lastly, the Cavapoo is an extremely low shedder. So, if you’re allergic to fur, then this is one of the breeds you must consider adopting.
The Adoption Process
There are a couple of prerequisites you might have to meet before a dog is given out to you for adoption. Every rescue organization may have slightly different conditions.
However, you’ll find some common themes throughout these conditions.
Generally, you’ll have to be at least 21 years old. Some rescue organizations may require that you’re necessarily a U.S citizen. Others may not care about that.
Another requirement may be for you to be living on your own. If you’re living with someone or renting, you may be required to verify that you’re allowed to accommodate a pet where you live. This may include written permission from your landlord to keep the dog.
What’s more, if you’ve owned a pet or currently own one, most rescue organizations will verify from your vet how up-to-date you were/are on vaccinations and other health checks. Some organizations will require you to spay or neuter all pets in your home as well.

More importantly, almost all rescue organizations will come to visit your home. Usually, the visit is to ensure there are no safety hazards within your premises. During the visit, they’ll also require every member of the household to be present. This includes other pets you may be housing. The motive is to make sure that the dog being adopted fits perfectly with your home/family.
Lastly, you may be required to pay an adoption fee. Usually, the amount isn’t expensive as it’s to cover expenses incurred in grooming, vaccinating, spaying/neutering, and the general care of the dog.
Final Thoughts
Adopting the Cavapoo is a step in the right direction. The dog’s temperament, intelligence, and low-maintenance status make him suitable for any pet owner.
The above-listed rescue organizations are more than willing to give up Cavapoos for adoption. However, you must be willing to undergo the full adoption process. It may seem tedious.
But, at the end of the day, it’s to ensure the dog fits like a glove with your household.
