Have you ever contemplated adopting a rescue Goldendoodle in Illinois? If not, then you are really missing out as there are a number of amazing rescue organizations across Illinois that can help you to bring a Goldendoodle home.
A Goldendoodle is a wonderful breed of dog to own, and these dogs are just wanting to both love and to be loved by a family for the rest of their life. They want to make you happy and to enjoy being with you, and yet so many people overlook the idea of using a rescue organization, and that’s wrong.
Why Adopt a Dog?
So why do we suggest that you go ahead and adopt a dog? Well, there are a number of different reasons as to why that is such a good idea.
Part of the problem is people misunderstanding what is going on when a dog ends up at a rescue organization. There is a fear that these are troubled dogs in some way, and that can put people off going there in order to adopt.
The truth is that most of the dogs that find themselves in this situation are there as they have been neglected or people have been unable to care for them correctly. It is through no fault of their own that this has happened, and all they want to do is to have fun with people that treat them well.
You have the ability to provide them with that type of home.
But then there’s also the fact that you can adopt an adult dog, so if you have never tried to train a puppy, then this can be the perfect solution. A puppy is a lot of work.
They need trained and you must be aware of all their vaccinations. An adopted dog means you avoid all of this.
Why a Goldendoodle?
But why focus specifically on a Goldendoodle when it comes to adopting a dog? Once again, we have a number of reasons why this is such a good idea.
The first thing has to be their temperament. It is excellent, and their calm nature does make them the ideal family dog. They are perfect around people of all ages and sizes, so if you have children, then you have nothing to worry about here either.
Then, you have the fact they are so easy to train. An adopted dog will have had people working on the training aspect, but a Goldendoodle has an overwhelming desire to please its owner, and that is reflected in its intelligence. They will work hard to make sure you are happy with them.
A Goldendoodle is loyal and will do its best to protect its family. They do require a reasonable amount of exercise, so you need to be prepared to do this to make sure they are healthy.
Overall though, they are a pleasure to own, and they will make a wonderful addition to your family.
But then, you need to know where in Illinois you have to go in order to adopt a Goldendoodle. So that is where we can help.
Chicago Canine Rescue is there to help any breed of dog that requires assistance or rescued from a bad situation. That does mean they won’t always have a Goldendoodle there to be adopted, but that shouldn’t stop you from getting in touch.
By contacting them in advance to let them know of your desire to adopt a Goldendoodle, it means you will be put on their waiting list. You can still go through the initial steps of their adoption checks so they know in advance whether or not you are going to be the right fit for one of their dogs.
This organization has been in operation for 20 years, and they have helped thousands of dogs over that time. Your Goldendoodle will be vaccinated and checked by a vet, but you will need to meet them in person a few times before the adoption process can be completed.
Also, there is an adoption fee, but they are a non-profit organization, so it is connected to the health checks and caring for the dog before they are adopted.

Starfish Animal Rescue focuses on saving dogs that are in high-kill shelters and seeks to adopt them out to new, loving families. They are based in Batavia, and along with saving dogs, they also seek to help educate people on how to correctly care for their dogs and to provide them with a happy life.
They will help any breed of dog, but they do come across the occasional Goldendoodle. Also, by letting them know you are actively searching for a Goldendoodle, it means they will be sure to contact you as soon as one enters their organization.
In the meantime, you will need to go through their adoption process, and it follows familiar lines. That means checking your home is suitable, as well as any background information on previous pets you have owned.
Every dog that comes through this organization has had various health checks, as well as being given some behavioral training if this is required.

This rescue organization was created in 2015, and they are based in Romeoville. Be aware that this organization does not run their own shelter. But rather use a network of foster homes across the area. Each dog they save is then placed in a foster home until they are ready to be adopted out to a new home.
With this organization, the foster family works on dealing with the temperament of the dog. They are then better placed to identify the correct family for that dog, so you will need to go to the foster home before the adoption process is completed.
As they deal with any breed of dog. It does mean there will not always be a Goldendoodle up for adoption. However, it does not stop you from getting in touch with them in advance to let them know of your desire. They will do their best to help you when one comes into their organization.
As is common, each dog is thoroughly checked by a vet, and any vaccinations are then given if required. You will be asked to pay an adoption fee as well. But this is designed to cover the costs of caring for the dog during its stay with the organization.

ALIVE Rescue has been in operation since 2008, and they have been running their own shelter facility since 2012. During this time, they have helped countless dogs to be saved from bad situations and placed in new loving homes.
Once again, they do deal with any breed of dog that needs help. So you will be required to contact them and let them know of your desire to specifically adopt a Goldendoodle.
They may not be in a position to help you at that moment. But they will certainly help you when it comes to their organization.
This organization provides each dog with not only medical help but also any behavioral help that is also required. They will work at providing training and your new dog will be nice and healthy when it comes to adopting them.
Keep in mind you will need to still complete their adoption checks to then qualify for adopting one of their dogs. This takes some time to do. But you can start things off even when there is not a Goldendoodle available at that time.
The Adoption Process
In order to successfully adopt a dog from any of the organizations listed above. You need to be able to complete their adoption process. In general, this will follow similar lines no matter the organization.
Their main focus will be on your suitability for their dogs. That means checking your background as a previous pet owner. That may include obtaining a reference from a vet that shows you have cared for animals before.
Another area is your home. They need to know that the dog will be kept in an appropriate location. So check your home and its suitability is clearly important. This may involve them physically coming to your home, or it may be done via a video call.
Something else they will be required to check is whether you are allowed to have a dog on your premises. This is especially important if you are renting. They will require a letter from your landlord. Plus, evidence in your agreement that you can keep pets in the home.
If you do not pass all of their criteria, then they will not be able to provide you with one of their dogs. Also, the dog has to be seen as being the correct one for you. This is the same as you needing to be the correct one for the dog.
At the end of the day, making sure you are a perfect fit is the most important thing of all for these rescue organizations.
