For anybody living in Virginia and with a love of owning a Bernedoodle rescue. Then why not consider potentially adopting a rescue dog from any of the dog rescue organizations in the State?
Bernedoodles are wonderful dogs, and they are highly popular. Who couldn’t manage to fall in love with these dogs with the way they both look and act? But here’s something to consider. Why not think about adopting a grown Bernedoodle rather than simply going ahead and trying to buy a puppy?
Adopting a dog is wonderful. You build a special bond between you and your dog that cannot be replicated anywhere else. They know you have given them another chance at life. They will be quick enough to let you know all about how happy they are.
Why a Rescue Dog?
Adopting a rescue dog can be very rewarding. Like we said at the outset, you are giving the dog another chance to live. All they are looking for in life is to have a family and to be loved and cared for. In return, they will do the same for you.
People are quick to look at buying a puppy, but not everyone is capable of correctly training a puppy either. By adopting an adult dog, you can bypass that problem. That also means you miss the stress associated with this.
But at the end of the day, your rescue dog will be able to give you so much love. And create so many happy times. By adopting a rescue dog, you are not only saving a life, but giving renewed energy to a dog. That had come from a very poor and difficult situation.

Why a Bernedoodle?
So why focus on adopting a Bernedoodle? Well, there are a number of reasons as to why this particular breed of dog will be the perfect dog to adopt.
Perhaps the main thing is their temperament. It really has to be one of the best out there. It will quickly become apparent as to why they are the ideal family pet. They love people of all ages, and they are completely safe to have around children as well.
Also, they do have a tendency to be quite calm. Yes, they can be full of life. That can get a bit annoying at times. But they have so much love to give that it’s easy to look past all of that. They just have this amazing ability to make the family home feel like a better place.
In addition, your Bernedoodle is not a silly dog. They will have so much fun learning new tricks. If there is fun to be had, then they will want to be in the middle of things.
However, this does make life harder as the different rescue organizations will not always have a Bernedoodle that is ready to be adopted. You need to learn to be patient as they do come through the doors at various times. In saying that, you are advised to contact as many rescue organizations as possible. Let them know of your plans to adopt a Bernedoodle in advance.
Being proactive is the key here. Organizations love to know if people are looking for a particular dog as they know they can find one. Then adopt them out quickly. It’s all about saving the lives of dogs after all.
So all we need to do is to let you know about the various rescue organizations based in Virginia.

Hope For Life Rescue
Located in Virginia Beach, Hope For Life Rescue does deal with any breed of dog that needs to be saved, so while they do not specialize in a Bernedoodle, they do come across them from time to time.
They were founded back in 2002, and since then they have helped a vast number of dogs to be moved out of bad situations and into a loving forever home. They focus on abused, neglected and abandoned dogs, and all of those animals are just wanting to life in a save environment.
Their adoption process is strict, but they do spend a considerable amount of time working with the dogs to make sure they are healthy both physically as well as in their training.
We do advise you to contact them and let them know of your desire to adopt a Bernedoodle. You will then be added to their list, and they will contact you if a Bernedoodle does become available. In the meantime, complete their adoption process and then all you need to do is to wait.

Rainbow Animal Rescue
Rainbow Animal Rescue does have a desire to really focus on dogs and making sure that any abandoned or neglected dog is able to find its way to a nice new home. They do also deal with any breed of dog that requires help and to be cared for, so don’t expect them to have a Bernedoodle always waiting to be adopted.
Each dog that they rescue is initially placed with a foster family. At that point, they are checked by a vet while they are also given any vaccinations and medical treatment that may be required.
We recommend starting their adoption process to allow all of the relevant checks to be carried out in advance of you being able to adopt your Bernedoodle. This will involve learning more about where the dog will be housed, and also your own history of caring for animals.
Do be aware that they are strict with who they will give a dog to, so be prepared for the adoption process to take some time to complete.

Richmond Ruff House
Richmond Ruff House was launched back in 2015, and since then they have managed to rehome a number of dogs and help get them out of a previous poor or dangerous situation. Their main focus is on rescuing dogs from shelters and they will then work with the community to make sure they end up in a lovely new home.
They do this via a series of foster homes, and that is where you will end up going to meet the dog before you adopt them. Do note that they seek to rescue any dog, so they may not have a Bernedoodle in their organization at that time.
You will need to contact them directly, and inform them of your desire to adopt a Bernedoodle. Even if they do not have one at this time, they will be more than happy to take your details, and to then contact you when one is ready to adopt. In the meantime, we recommend completing their application in advance.

Beacon of Hope
Beacon of Hope is an organization that is run entirely by volunteers who wish to save as many lives of dogs abandoned or neglected as possible. They are based in Richmond, and they will seek to help any dog that is in need.
The fact they deal with any dog does mean they do come across a Bernedoodle from time to time. However, there will not always be one in their adoption process, and that is why we recommend going ahead and contacting them in advance.
You can start the application process by contacting them, and then they can go ahead and begin the checks to see that you are the perfect person for adopting one of their dogs. There is a fee involved when you go ahead and adopt, but they do make sure all of their dogs have been checked by a vet, so they need to cover their costs.

Completing the Adoption Process
All of the rescue organizations that appear in our list deal with any breed of dog, so they do not focus on just a Bernedoodle. That does mean there may be times where none of them have a Bernedoodle in their organization.
But that should not put you off. Instead, you can still press ahead with the adoption process to make sure you have completed all of the checks before a dog comes through their door.
Exactly how the process works may vary slightly depending on the organization. They do all have the same intention in mind, which is to make sure they choose the correct person for each dog, so expect them to take their time.
They will look into your background with pets. This may involve asking for a reference from your vet that you did care for your pet in the past. It will also include checking your home as they need to know where the dog will be housed.
And then there’s the fee. They have spent money caring for the dog, and they are all non-profit organizations. How much you pay depends on the organization, but they will be quite happy to tell you about all of this in advance.
